Classic Movies Getting a Reboot in 2016

It’s the year of the reboot and 2016 has promised us some pretty intriguing comebacks. From classic characters from years past to movies that cause major nostalgia (we’re looking at you, Ghostbusters). These are the flicks that are ready to take on the box office…again.

SPIDER-MAN (2002 & 2007)

The early 2000’s brought us Spidey in the form of Tobey Maguire, and just two years ago starring Andrew Garfield. So who, and what, can we expect for the next chapter of Spider-Man? Only that it’s planned for release in July 2017, so prepare for another summer box-office hit.

INDEPENDENCE DAY (1996)

“YES!” is exactly what we thought, and probably said out loud, when we heard Independence Day was making it’s long awaited return. That is until we found out that Will Smith will not be returning to his role as bad-ass pilot Captain Hiller. On the bright side Jeff Goldblum is making a comeback for the film.

GHOSTBUSTERS (1984)

Who ya’ gonna call? Ghostbusters! But not the ones you’re thinking of. Believe it or not, it’s been 32 years since Bill Murray starred in the original movie. This time around, the supernatural evils of the world will have to answer to Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Kristen Wiig.

JUMANJI (1995)

Every 90’s kids worst nightmare was accidentally summoning a swarm of gigantic spiders while playing Jumanji. We don’t know much about it’s return, but we can imagine it will be impossible to recreate the magic that the beloved Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst brought us the first time around.

THE EXORCIST (1973)

The creepy story based on the 1971 book of the same name is being re-imagined by Fox for an upcoming TV series titled The Exorcist Chronicles. The series will tell the story of a 12-year old girl who falls victim to demonic possession. Expect a majorly creepy build up to what we all know will be the most terrifying bout of projectile vomit.

BAYWATCH (1995)

Tanned, chiseled lifeguards running in slow-motion on the beach saving lives on the beach. That’s about all there is to it, and the fact that the remake will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron.
