Now that Kanye’s “The Life of Pablo” has been fully digested, it’s time to talk about the other highly anticipated albums dropping this year. The 12-year-old version of myself agrees that the hits from this group of fierce females to-date has been transformative. Britney? Missy? Can it all be true? Yes. Yes, it is.
Here’s what to expect…
Britney Spears, TBD
All signs point to this being the year her majesty Britney graces her loyal #BritneyArmy with a new album. The pop icon has been upping her game on the Las Vegas stage for some time and she’s reportedly working with some buzzed-about DJs.
Katy Perry, TBD
We don’t know much about the upcoming album, but we have lots of questions. Is there a track featuring Left Shark? Will she throw shade at T-Swift? Will Orlando Bloom appear in the music video dressed as Legolas?
Ariana Grande, “Moonlight”
There’s no denying that Ariana Grande can sing. She’s already released the first single from her new album “Focus,” and from the sound of it, she’s just getting warmed up. Wait, does this mean no more doughnut licking?
Missy Elliott, TBD
Watching Missy Elliott perform “Get Ur Freak On” at the Superbowl XLIX halftime show was a dream come true. She has yet to gift us with a new single since the 2015 release of “WTF (Where They From),” and the wait is practically unbearable.
Gwen Stefani, “This is What the Truth Feels Like”
Gwen’s third studio album is scheduled for release mid-March and with singles like “Used to Love You” and “Make Me Like You” it’s safe to say the album will read like a book about getting a divorce and falling in love with a cowboy.
Earlier this month we lost all cool when Bey released her new single “Formation” which was available for free download. She followed up by performing the single at the Superbowl 50 halftime show where she announced the launch of “The Formation World Tour.” More to come, people. So much more to come.
