Will 2017 spell the end for Aerosmith?
Steve Tyler announced that after his solo country music tour he might embark with his fellow Aerosmith bandmembers on a farewell tour after 45 years of performing for crowds. They’ve played over 2,000 concerts since 1970. Tyler wasn’t the first Aerosmith musician to suggest a final tour. Band guitarist Brad Whitford commented several months ago that the band could be close to performing its final tour in order to give each member a chance to say goodbye.
Aerosmith is the best-selling rock band in U.S. history. The group holds the most certifications by an American group—25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums. Inductions include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
